The kids got off to a good start though and were glad that we kept them at their school.
Then the Lord provided a nearly seamless way for us to move to Tigard and be closer to my job and the school for the kids. We found someone immediately to take over our lease and found a house perfect for us in Tigard which only cost $25 more a month than what we were paying in Beaverton but saved us so much time and gas money.
Nothing can be perfectly easy though as I came to find out. While looking at the house that we ended up renting I slipped on a garbage bag that was on the stairs and hit my back on the stairs. So much pain. Here is a nice shot of me being carried out on a stretcher, we had to call 911, I couldn't get off the floor.
I had to take one full week off of work and then it still took me 3 more weeks to be able to move without pain in my back. Every time something like this happens I think God is teaching me empathy for those that have debilitating diseases. How horrible it is to be in pain all the time and to not be independent. Health is a gift we often take for granted. I cannot tell you how grateful I was and still am for the outpouring of love and support we received from our ward family. We were brought dinners, people babysat Katie for me because I couldn't get out of bed and helped us out so much. I was just so in awe of their selflessness even though some I knew were going through some hard trials of their own.
Meanwhile, we had decided to take the house anyway (crazy, I know!) and had to start packing. Trent was amazing and so supportive and helped us pack up the house. I had started to get a bit better and was able to help some.
The day of the move a gift from heaven descended upon us, we have 20+ people at our house in Beaverton ready to help us load up the truck, pack the few remaining items and clean the house. I shed tears of gratitude that day. God is so good, he gives us trials but always blesses us. As always my father, Tod and my brother, Dale were there supporting us on both sides of the move. I am eternally grateful for the kindness and generosity we experienced that day. Due to all the help we had in Beaverton, it was pretty quick unload in Tigard.
We love our new neighborhood, house and ward. Everything about this move feels right.
